The Chocolate Warning
Hopefully you will be nice and organised already, Christmas shopping started and squirreling stuff away in the vain hope that the kids don’t find it but spare a thought for your 4 legged family member. I’m speaking from experience because last year our dog Midas found 2 small bags of chocolate coins hidden in my bedroom, removed the foil(without damaging it, how he managed that I’ll never know)and had a little treat to himself. Not a lot of chocolate in those coins, I can hear you say but did you know that the toxic dose of normal milk chocolate is 9g per kg of dog! Midas had consumed 150g so he had gone into the toxic dose by 15 g. So his little fun time cost him a trip to the vet and a bath when he got home (sicky dog and congealed chocolate, yuk!) and of course, a vet bill before Christmas, no lasting damage done but we were lucky, others might not be, so BE ALERT, oh, and never assume your dog has not clocked what you’ve done with the good stuff.
